1 - First Friday Business Education Breakfast with Field Goods.7:30 am - 9 am, Holiday Inn Express. 1442 Western Ave. Donna Williams, the Founder of Field Goods will speak to us. Field Goods is a local produce delivery company that offers subscriptions to weekly deliveries of small farm produce to people at their workplaces and community locations. 16 - Community Resource FCU, 20 Wade Road, Latham NY, will be holding a bottle drive to support Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Donate your soda, beer and water cans and bottles and help those animals! They'll be collecting from 9 am till noon. Call 518-783-2211 with any questions.
18 - 10:00 am Registration and 11 am Shotgun Start for the Annual Colonie Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing at the Colonie Golf and Country Club! The $170 per person fee will cover 18 holes of golf with cart and greens fees, first class amenities, lunch on the course, cocktails and a steak bake dinner. What a deal! Prizes will be awarded for longest drive, straightest drive and closest to the pin plus there will be putting and driving range contests. 18 - 6:30 pm - 8 pm, Stedman Room, Colonie's Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12211. Chamber member Mark Grimm give a free presentation on "Everyone Can Be A Dynamic Speaker: Yes, I Mean You!". He'll explain how to calm your speaking fear, why most people prepare the wrong way for speeches and how to be much clearer when you speak. The program is free and no registration is required.
19 - 19th 8:30 am-9:30 am Community Caregivers Volunteer Orientation, 2012 Western Ave., Suite 104. This is a Volunteer Orientation for those interested in our Neighbor Helping Neighbor model of volunteer service. Come and learn more! One hour session. Please call to register 456-2898.
20 - Connection to the Community event! 5:30 to 7 pm. YMCA Adventure Camp Rt. 155, Guilderland. Come mix and network while getting to know one of the local community organizations right at one of the camps. The YMCA! We will be having our monthly mixer at the YMCA Adventure Camp where there will be a chicken BBQ under the pavilion! 20 - Capital District EOC is seeking employers for a job fair at their building on 431 River Street in Troy. They will have over 25 graduates of their Building Trades and Welding programs who will be seeking employment. To sign up as an employer for the fair, please click here for the form.
23 - The Wounded Warrior Project has chosen Albany, N.Y. as the starting point of the sixth annual "Memorial Day 100". At approximately 7:00 am on Saturday, May 23rd , thirty United States Marine Veterans will begin the 115 mile relay marathon at the World War II Memorial located next to the New York State Museum on Madison Ave. The event will kick off on Friday evening May 22nd with a dinner honoring the thirty Marines/runners at Graney's STOUT Irish Pub & Restaurant located on Broadway in Albany. This will be a fundraising event with a Chinese auction, fifty-fifty raffle as well as monetary donations to benefit Wounded Warrior Project.
