Meet our Board !

William Coons , Chairman

As a lifelong Guilderland resident, William Coons Jr. takes great pride in giving back to our community. He joined Fort Hunter Fire Department in 1981 and went on to become Chief and then President of the department before retiring in 1998. He also served as on the Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals from 1995 to 2000, spending his last two years on the Board as Chairman. The only thing William is more dedicated to than our town, is his family. He is a proud father of William (Will) Coons III, 26, and Samantha Coons, 21. Will recently completed his Masters in Business from Excelsior College, while Samantha is finishing her Bachelor’s in Economics from Siena College. Throughout their childhood, William coached many of their teams, including T-ball, Babe Ruth, and the Capital District Men’s League. He also joined the Babe Ruth Board and went on to serve as President of the Board for three years before stepping down earlier this Fall. William is an Associate Real Estate Broker with CMK & Associates Real Estate, and he opened the firm’s first Guilderland Office in April of 2016. Through these many experiences William has gained an integrate knowledge of our town that aids him in serving as the current Chairman of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce. In this role he already begun bringing in new ideas to increase membership, while also making the Chamber a more interactive environment for its members and Guilderland residents alike.

Tim Wiles

Tim Wiles is the Director of the Guilderland Public library, and was Director of Research at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum from 1995-2014.  He lives in Guilderland with his wife Marie and their son, Ben, who attends Lynnwood Elementary School.  In addition to the Chamber, he is active with Guilderland Cares and the Guilderland Library Foundation.

Meet Steve ,

Steve Wacksman

I was born and raised in the town of Guilderland on Schoolhouse Rd. and graduated from Guilderland High School.   After college, I begin working at CDTA, and 24 years later I am the Superintendent of Maintenance.  I am married to Kathy Burbank, a realtor with CM Fox, and we share five great Guilderland-raised kids and two cute dogs together.
I enjoy nothing more than getting involved in my community.  Throughout my years in Guilderland, I have volunteered for schools and organizations, coached a few sports, organized many fundraisers, and been a member of several boards of directors. I am currently the VP for the Guilderland Library Foundation, and a board member for the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce.

Meet Todd Porter , Junk King

Todd Porter owns and operates Junk King, a full service junk removal company and self-service roll off dumpster companyy.  He spent over a decade at a white shoe law firm at Park Ave, New York, but found little opportunities to give back to the community or better the environment. Through Junk King, he is able to bring old fashioned service to good folks’ homes and businesses, spend a sizeable portion of his time donating services to charities and community organizations, and truly help the environment by saving tons of recycleable materials which were destined for landfills. Todd brings white collar professionalism to a blue collar industry. Todd is always available to provide service to his customers.

Meet Brian Clark !

Brian is the owner of The UPS Store on Western Ave, here in Guilderland. He has been providing the community with retail shipping, printing and business services for the past 25 years and counting. Prior to running The UPS Store, Brian attended SUNY Brockport and SUNY Oneonta, where an internship for the State brought him to Albany. Falling in love with the region, Brian settled in Guilderland where he lives with his fellow entrepreneur wife, Christine, and two sons, Sean and Aiden. When not working on his business, Brian enjoys spending his free time outdoors. From camping to kayaking to ice fishing to simply barbequing, any excuse for some fresh air with his family will do.

Meet Linda Cure ! GCC Secretary

I grew up in the Chicago area and met my husband, Peter, while living in Winter Park, Colorado. Pete grew up in Guilderland so we decided to move to Altamont when Pete was hired as Golf Course Superintendent at Orchard Creek Golf Club.  I’ve worn many hats in my career, including legal publishing, banking and law.  One of my most interesting jobs was communications director for a corporate jet valuation firm.  While raising our three kids, I worked as the Program and Events Coordinator for the Chamber until 2005.  I was hired by the Town of Guilderland in 2006 as the Public Relations Officer and am in charge of the Town website and recreational programming for the Town.  I joined the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce Board in 2013.

I enjoy volunteering and currently serve on the Altamont Free Library Board of Trustees and am the administrator for the Guilderland Industrial Development Agency.  I love upstate New York and am proud to call Altamont and Guilderland my home.
